Jermaine O’Neal Jr. begins his college career with the SMU Mustangs as one of the nation’s top incoming freshmen. A four-star forward from Dynamic Prep in Irving, Texas, O’Neal Jr. earned recognition as a top-150 prospect, ranked No. 88 by ESPN, No. 111 by On3, and No. 126 by 247Sports. As a senior, he averaged 14.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 0.9 steals, leading Dynamic Prep to the Chipotle Nationals title game and the No. 1 spot in the final National Top 10 high school rankings. His junior season was just as impressive, with averages of 13.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks, guiding Dynamic Prep to a 23–1 record and a No. 16 national ranking in the SCNext Top 25. O’Neal Jr. is a cornerstone of SMU’s 2025 recruiting class, rated among the best in program history, and is expected to make an immediate impact with his length, defensive instincts, and versatile scoring ability.
